Mission Statement:
SCORES Mission: to inspire in urban children a lasting dedication to education, healthy living and civic responsibility. Our primary activites for students are soccer, poetry, and service learning. How we do it: SCORES uses the world's most popular sport, soccer, to energize and inspire public school students. Children use the teamwork they learn on the soccer field to support each other as poets and authors in the classroom. And each team gives something back their communities through a 10-week service learning curriculum.

Each participating school site has one (1) girls soccer coach, one (1) boys soccer coach, (1) one girls writing coach, one (1) boys writing coach, and one (1) school-site manager. The school-site coaches are supported by SCORES program staff; for every six (6) schools, we have one (1) program staff. At some schools, we also bring in college students as assistant soccer and writing coaches.
