Mission Statement:

Camp Fire USA builds caring, confident youth and future leaders.

History/Goals/Objectives:

Founded nearly a century ago as 'Camp Fire Girls,' this contemporary, coeducational program is one of the nation's leading not-for-profit youth development organizations. By design, Camp Fire USA programs are not only fun; they build specific skills and characteristics like school preparedness, confidence, and self-direction.     Our research-based after-school and summertime programs empower girls and boys by providing various opportunities to learn new social skills, make positive decisions, and practice leadership. Camp Fire USA programs support and contribute to academic readiness and confidence; as well as strengthen vulnerable families by bringing parents and other adult caregivers back into their children's lives and learning.    Camp Fire USA leaves nothing to chance. We strive to be reliable, quality stewards of the lives we touch. In short, we produce results. Our Outcome Measurement Tool Kit and series of post-program surveys are used to substantiate a variety of age-appropriate social and academic readiness outcomes. Key program objectives include:    a)  The girls and boys demonstrate optimism about her or his personal future, believing that he or she has some control over things that happen to them and reporting 'My life has a purpose.'    b)  The girls and boys are committed to doing well in school.    c)  The girls and boys appreciate diversity and demonstrate sensitivity to peers and people of different ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds.    d)  The girls and boys manifest good decision-making skills towards conflict resolution and choosing alternatives to violent behavior.
