Learning for Life serves others by belping to instill core values in young people and in other ways prepare them to make ethical choices throughout their lives so they can achieve their full potential. Color, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background, medical condition, economic status, or citizenship is not criteria that limits participation in the Learning for Life Program.
History/Goals/Objectives:
Learning for Life has been serving young people in the Bay Area since 1991. Currently, we are partnered with over 90 schools and organizations in San Francisco and Alameda County. The goal of the Learning for Life program is to support schools and other organizations by providing a wide range of resources including: classroom and work-based active learning experiences that promote character development and career exploration. In high schools, Learning for Life offers career resources including speakers, workshops and career mentoring. For elementary and middle schools, Learning for Life has age and grade appropriate, theme-oriented, character education curriculum aligned with California's content standards. Learning for Life has developed unique programs to meet the needs of schools including: Reading Parners (a mentoring program for at risk elementary age youth); GirlForward (a self esteem curriculum for middle school age girls).
