Mission Statement:

Oakland Ready to Learn promotes educational equity by increasing children's access to information, activities and materials known to result in school success.

History/Goals/Objectives:

ORL has been working with young children and their families in school settings for over ten years, focusing on Oakland's most underserved areas. A primary concern for ORL is the low reading scores of children and the low levels of English fluency. ORL approaches these through a variety of early learning and literacy activities, distribution of books and parent involvement.
