History/Goals/Objectives:

Pivotal Point is a 501(c) 3 non-profit agency established to provide intensive employment training, job placement, case management and other supportive services to high risk, under-served youth between 14-24 years of age.  Pivotal Point has over four years experience providing employment and training services and is the only youth services organization in Alameda County that specializes in preparing emancipated foster youth for the workforce.  Founder and Executive Director of Pivotal Point Youth Services, La Tronda Lumpkins, M.S.W, was a foster child in Alameda County, who experienced first-hand how the lack of resources can lead to limited options for young people.      In early 2000, La Tronda along with her husband, Lamont Lumpkins, Child Welfare Worker, Christa Countee, and Community Leader Rev. Eunice Shaw envisioned an organization committed to improving the overall quality of life of young people by helping them acknowledge that they are at a pivotal point in their lives where a decisive change must occur.  This idea has gone full circle to become Pivotal Point Youth Services, Inc.
