and youth development community in Oakland,
we are asking all organizations to please complete a Professional

MORE DETAILS
In the next school year, OCASA intends to offer a range of
professional development events and peer exchange/mentorship opportunities. The
Professional Practice Survey is our initial mechanism for collecting broad
organizational information, specific areas of "challenge" as well as
"success," and types of professional practice you would prefer in the
upcoming year.
Based on topics identified and working with multiple
partners, including the OUSD SUCCESS office who is
supporting this effort, we plan to offer:
- Three two-session small
group technical assistance trainings. The first session of
each training will focus on acquiring new skills and knowledge.
Between the first and second session, participants would have the
opportunity to put this new knowledge into practice (a.k.a.
"homework"). The second
session will focus on the participants’ experience in implement the newly
learned strategies and ways to fine tune approaches.
- Two to three 60-90
minute trainings for larger groups, based on the material developed in
technical assistance sessions or identified as valuable by large numbers
of after school community members.
- OCASA would also like to
offer a mentoring package to a limited number (2-3) of organizations. Each
mentee organization would receive approximately
15 hours of mentoring from another
organization spread throughout a period of 3-6 months.
