2006 Select OCASA Priorities

Building an infrastructure to support after school programs. In partnership with the OUSD Oakland SUCCESS Department, OCASA has developed a strategic plan for after school in Oakland, consistent with OCASA’s vision of comprehensive after school for all Oakland youth by 2010.  Presented at the April 2006 Prop 49 Planning and Preparation meeting and recently revised, click here for an Executive Summary and here for the full document. Working with our partners, we will make the implementation of Proposition 49 a success.

Facilitating the partnership match between service providers and Oakland schools with the development and implementation of an online service provider profile system and sponsoring a convening to bring school and service provider personnel together.

Providing capacity building support for Oakland after school service providers. OUSD’s SUCCESS Office is sponsoring OCASA to support after-school providers with strategies for improving their services and strengthening their management infrastructure.

Working for full compliance with and re-authorization of the Measure K-Kids First Initiative – a measure that established the Oakland Fund for Children and Youth (OFCY), which funds ($10+ million per year) programs for children and youth.

Building and strengthening OCASA membership to include 100 community organizations, schools, and intermediary organizations in order to effectively advocate for the priorities listed above.
